Gabrielle Union is not just a talented actress but a survivor! Before Hollywood, she was raped at gun point while working as a youth in a local shoe store. She was just 19 years old then. However, Gabrielle didn’t allow this horror to stop her from gaining success.  She could have went down the wrong path as a result of being victimized. Instead, she learned how to cope with the shame, fear, and helplessness that victims often experience, and became a star.

Bad situations don’t define who we are, we define exactly who we are! Sometimes things happen that are completely out of our control, but how we deal with the unexpected and the disappointments is what makes us strong, builds our character, and refines our state of existence.  We all have a story to tell, but how it ends depends on the choices we make. One way to bounce back from tragedy with health and wellness is to choose who you are, instead of letting your circumstances pick for you.

  1. Would you recommend this book? I think I’m moving off of celebrity memoirs for a minute. Tiffany Haddish disappointed me greatly lol But I might be willing to read this one.

    1. I’ve always admired Gabrielle’s strength as a survivor. But IDK, I think some celebrity memoirs fall under the quote from of my favorite documentaries “Black and Write” -“Anyone can write a book, but not everyone should!” Eric Lasalle
